Pac-Man Fever
  • I want you to come back with me to a time long ago (the early 1980's) to be precise. It was a time when 1 game above all others ruled and it's protagonist became the undisputed FACE of video games as we knew them.

Now, most of you on here are to young to remember just how obsessed America had become with freakin' Pac-Man. He made Mario look like a forgettable grade Z actor from a porn film. I mean, Pac-man was EVERYWHERE!

Toys, clothes, non-video games, food, and of course...

    MUSIC

It is hard to understand now, but not so long ago the entire world was obsessed with one game and it isn't the most complex thing to play. As Jam pointed out in his review, it doesn't even hold up that well. But, when was the last time you saw something like this...

    ...for a modern game???

    Or this???

Footage for that was incidentally using characters from the Pac-Man cartoon show.

Oh and let's not forget this infamous 7-UP commercial...

Will we ever see such a national or even international interest in one game ever again? I doubt it. Although Guitar Hero is coming pretty damn close.

I leave you with this un-embeddable newsclip from 25 years ago...enjoy...

  • I remember eating pac man cereal. It wasn't that bad actually.

Now Batman cereal (when the first movie came out).. that was HORRIBLE. Worst cereal I ever had, and I _still_ remember how bad it tasted.

Nothing beats Ghostbusters cereal. That stuff was just horrific. It turned into this gooey sludge if left in milk longer than like a minute.
