(PC) Faceless | A free to play mod/game developed by Manio & Friends!
  • [CENTER]image

You guys have been awesome to me through-out the past 4 years I've been here and I'd like to share with you guys why I've been so busy and why I haven't been as active on these here forums and that's because I've started developing a game/mod on the Source Engine called "Faceless".

Faceless is based around the mythos of the Slenderman created by Victor Surge (Eric Knudsen) whom we've been working with closely to produce a game on his creation. We have his permission, and his support and that's really inspiring myself and the development team I have hired. I'd like to share this with everyone and would love to see you guys in-game! Your guys opinion matters more than anyone else's right now. So please, feedback!
[CENTER]Faceless (previously Slender: Source) is a Source modification based upon the internet famous Slenderman legend, allowing up to four players to enter a world in which only human instincts can face an unholy test of endurance, enter locations that immerse you and your friends, or strangers, into a dark and mysterious run for survival.
Faceless, despite various name changes, is the up and coming Slenderman inspired modification, for either single player or up to four players to explore and scavenge for compulsory items for your survival, as well as optional items to dig deeper into the backstory of Daniel North.
Someone wrote:According to the legend, he can stretch or shorten his arms at will and has tentacle-like appendages protruding from his back. Depending on the interpretations of the myth, the creature can cause memory loss, insomnia, paranoia, coughing fits (nicknamed “slendersickness”), photograph/video distortions and can teleport at will. The urban legend has inspired fan arts, fictional creepypastas and a mockumentary series in the style of the 1999 indie horror film Blair Witch Project.

Faceless is a free-to-play multiplayer survival horror mod for Half-Life 2 that is based off the mythology of the Slenderman. Players must cooperatively work together to gather a series of mysterious dolls while escaping the unholy abomination that is the Slenderman. There are no weapons.
Players must work as a team to gather (and return) a collection of twisted dolls. As each doll is collected, Slenderman will become increasingly more difficult to escape in each encounter. This mysterious creature doesn’t just become faster – it’ll attempt to trap you and cut you off from the rest of the group. A frugal use of your flashlight and constant communication are a necessity to surviving this hellish nightmare.
Faceless includes a hand-crafted story that expands the captivating mysteries of the Slenderman mythology. Players will explore the foulest regions of Slenderman’s haunts; an abandoned hospital, a shadowy thicket and a decommissioned subway station are but some of the wickedly evil realms that players will find themselves in. Diary notes, audio logs and wall paintings reveal detailed accounts of horrifying past encounters with the Slenderman.
A tense and terrifying soundtrack follows the players on their descent into Slenderman-induced insanity. From the main menu to each pick-up of a doll, the audio design has been built to create a nerve-wracking and unnatural vibe that will put players on edge. The halls and woods of long-abandoned environments will be filled with the echoes of screaming and running.
-No gravetalk or free roam spectate: dead players cannot rely information to living ones.
-Players start off completely alone and split from each other.
-Voice chat is proximal: players can only communicate within a certain distance.
-One to four player support: die together or die alone.
-FGD support so players can create their own multiplayer Slenderman maps.

So that's a hell of a lot of information! We also have two interviews with developers of the game. The first being an interview with me the Project Lead and our promotional designer Adam Sklar. Take a gander!

I hope you guys enjoy that. For the final bit of this post I'll post some of the in-game screenshots and finish off with our two teaser trailers. Thanks for taking the time to read this guys, and your support would be fantastic.

We're also the #1 game right now on Steam's greenlight service and have been in the top 3 since the launch of the service in August!

Hyde Station - A subway themed map.

The dolls you'll be collecting in Faceless. Are they spooky enough? (Early model)

Bear Valley Hospital - Our abandoned hospital map.

    Slenderman vs Player. Oh shit!

And without further ado, the two trailers for Faceless. Please enjoy guys.

Faceless is estimated to be released sometime early 2013.

  • This looks absolutely terrific. If you guys can convey the feeling from the videos and trailers, this game is going to be fantastic. Best of luck to you and everyone working on the game! Can't wait to play it man.
  • Got a new screenshot I took today for ya'll!

And, this spooky atmospheric one ;)

  • Wow this looks insane, can't wait to try it out
  • Thought I'd give you lads an update on my project. Currently #1 on Steam's Greenlight service, but we're dealing with some stuff with Valve and the creator of Slenderman. Luckily, we have the creator's permission to use his creation in a game, as well as his blessing. Cool! Anyways, the updates are the trailers we released on Christmas, and New Years.

Enjoy guys. We're also currently doing an interview with Killscreen. I'm very excited to see that too!
