The great "Show off your gameroom" topic
  • Welcome to the great "Show off your game room" topic in wich you finally get the chance to show off that incredibly expensive B&O sound set hooked up to your Xbox 360 or just how many monitors you have hooked up to one machine .
Nothing is too sick , nothing is to fancy for this topic show come along and show us what you`ve got !

    Notes

-Please do not post full 1 + megapixel pictures in the thread , instead thumbnail them.
-Popular image hosting sites are http://imageshack.us and www.flickr.com
  • Well let me be the first to start out .
The idea for this topic came from the whole screen pimping in the Supreme Commander thread , a game that can use multiple displays .

    image

The door nicely decorated by a Lois Rojo poster and two pillars of DVD`s

    image

In the left corner of my L-shaped desk wich I still need to paint black sometime you`ll see my main "work" area consisted of two Samsung 19 inch screens .
Additional items include my PS2 , PSP , PDA . secondary mouse for modelling apps , some DVD boxes and a shelf of "best off" DVD`s for easy access .
Next to that in the "main area" is the 26 inch screen , USB HD , Scanner and more
    of the DVD shelf .

Out of sight but still present under the desk are thea pixma printer, Xbox 360 and the Nintendo gamecube wich I still need to sometime get started with Metroid prime 1 and 2 wich I bought but sadly never really played .

The cool thing about my monitor setup is that they are all hooked up to one PC with two videcards .
When I`m working normally , they act independantly but application preference puts apps and movie players where i want them on start .
If I wanna go play a game say Battlefield , then I`ll activate SLI at wich point the 26 inch screen becomes the main screen for some widescreen pwnage :)

Inside the beast .. I move on to my computer .

    image

You can clearly see the DFI lanparty branding on the motherboard , DFI is the overclockers motherboard of choice offering enough BIOS options to keep yourself occupied for about 2-3 months to fully tweak out .
In the end it`s worth it if you wanna squeeze out every last bit of performance to get more bang for buck .

Currently the CPU runs from 2 Ghz --> 2.6 Ghz , and the ram runs 466 Mhz instead of 400 Mhz . I leave the videocard overclocked as thats a bit tricky with me alternating between SLI and non SLI mode .

Unfamilier to many a even hardcore gamer , on the right side of the case you`ll notice alot of power cables and weird circuit boards.
Those are for my SCSI drives wich I`m actually insane enough to own .
A large array of 15.000 K RPM drives from Fujitsu and Seagate together with 3Gbs of high speed overclocked ram allows me to load even the most demenading games at an insane pace .
So insane infact that I can spawn in BF2 , take off in a jet and bomb the enemy airfield in time for them to spawn between flames , that sick :)

    image

A zoom in on the CPU heatsink / Fan combination .
It`s quite old , SLK 948 U i believe from Thermalright wich makes EXCELLENT cooling solutions.
I actually have their best heatsink wich is 2 times as big as this one and cools extremely well with little noise as you can use a 120mm fan on it .
The wider the diameter the less noise it makes whilst moving air .
But .. I cant use the big guy on this cause if I do i cant use the ram slot closest to the CPU socket wich means 2.5 GB ram instead of 3 :(

    image

Zoomed in on the videocards , here you can clearly see the SLI bridge that links my two videocards together for some excellent performance .
Tough these two 7800 GTX`s are even beat by a single 8800 GTX wich performes 40 % better ..it just shows you that the 8800 series are really worth their money .
  • ok, so i dont have a camera worthy of this forum, so ill just have to describe it, hopefully well enough to get the idea.

My gaming area is also my room, as i am still in high school
    it includes:
    - a 27 inch tv mounted on two cpu moniter raiser
    - behind it is a pair of massive speaker, rigged through a sterio
    - on top of these speakers is where my 360 is placed, horisontaly so it will not fall over
    - across from my console gameing area is my desk, which has become greatly warped for reasons unknown
    - on the top of said desk is an old emachines 17 inch moniter, taking up space untill my new cpu and moniter arive.
    - my cpu speakers are also rigged there, waiting to be used.
    - my laptop is usually placed on the desk as well, which is where i usually post here from.
    - my desk is also very messy at this moment

thats the gaming area of my room. its still a work in progress
  • Gwenster: that is one big monitor!

My gaming room is fairly basic

    On one side, my pc.

And on the other side, my exercise stuff.

  • Here's my home office, where I do a majority of my PC gaming, noobtoob work, and also for coding when I work from home. Yeah, it's a little dusty right now :). The base is an Ikea desk in a right angle configuration.

Current setup as seen here is a 24" Dell with two 20" viewsonic LCD's. I'm also using a set of Logitech 5.1 speakers (ZX500 I think) and you can see the sub peeking out near my feet and there's two more satellites behind me. I also have my Guitar Hero controllers in the back cause my fiancee doesn't like them cluttering the upstairs living room :). The PC is nothing to go nuts about, but it is really quiet, which is nice.

I'm using the MX510 gaming mouse right now which I really like, but thinking about upgrading to one of the newer mice, maybe the one with weights. Also, just ordered the Logitech G15 gaming keyboard so it should be arriving very soon to replace my old janky one.

Can't say enough good things about the 3M keyboard and mouse wrist rests.. Been using these for years -- probably have gone through 3 already.

    image

My primary art. Blown up and framed Sam and Max covers. The mic is from my audio setup which I'll be using to interview folks through skype. I also have a Wallace and Grommit wall clock out of frame :).

Lots of geeky programming books with is de rigeur for the code monkey set.

    image

And of course, the piece de resistance, my primary console gaming rig in the living room. The display is a 67" Samsung 1080p HDTV. You can probably see the Wii, 360 + HD-DVD, and my Xbox media center on the right, and the PS2 is peeking to the left of the stand since I didn't have any room left. Note the headphones which I (unfortunately) have to use since I game when my SO is asleep. I'm still on the lookout for some good wireless headphones -- I've tried two so far and they both sucked.

That's one TV I definately wouldn't want to break with a wii remote!
  • I'm way too embarrassed of my minimum wage room with all my paintings on the floor and my wood paneled tv that just stopped working like an hour ago and had a green blur in the corner. and my 10 year old computer that with a dark burned out moniter with all my school papers in the computer chair.

    Damn wall size TVs.

Siiiick set-up + Tv for both Gwenster and Yuzo btw.
  • hehe, I have my fiancee to thank for the TV. She gets the rock and I get a new display. Fair trade if I say so myself. Cause I wouldn't wear a watch or whatever guys tend to get as engagement presents, but you know that TV is gonna get a lot of use :).

Thanks for reminding us that your computer is full of porn, too :)

I really need to finally graduate college so I can get a job, and actually have some money to get coool shit, First off, definetly a new compy, then a big tv for my 360 then mabey a wii, tobin and yuzo have talked it up so much that Im actually thinkin aobut it for a party console, who would have thought, definetly not me

Heh, well we definitely know the feeling. Tobin and I went to the same school and we didn't have disposable money for gaming at all. I think Tobin spent all his extra cash on booze and cigarettes :). I mostly spent time playing Doom and C&C on the campus computers in the labs, and maybe a little Descent on my crappy P90. I never at any point had enough money to buy a console (the N64 was released my Senior year). So don't get too down, just know that if you study hard enough, get a good job, at some point you'll have so much disposable income you won't know what to do with it.

That is of course, until you have kids. :)

Yw - or so I've heard..
  • oh yeah, i just got my new hp computer, nvidea geforce 7600gt vid card, vista and a 20 inch widescreen moniter
  • It's been a while since this was last active, and we have a ton of new users, so bringing this one back up for new folks to post pics of their gaming rigs.

yes is only my wii with dust after finishing zelda and a pink ds lite (the only one they had but still rules) i thing i use more the ds (the ds is not there), and if you see carefully that is how japanese rooms are, fucking lil' eggs, my rental 13" tv is over my mini fridge hahah. damnit just 3 months more!!!!!
  • Does anyone know if the Xbox Live Vision cam works on the PC? I don't even have any recording/picture taking softwares, so I guess it doesn't matter.
  • Yeah it should pretty much be a USB webcam that'll work on any PC. Of course, any PC webcam won't work on the 360 though, but that's the only restriction.

Whoa. Thats tiny. But you know, I'd really like one of those 2k apartments. Thats the perfect size to live alone/with pet. Small kitchen that I'd never use, a living room with a massive tv, one two seater sofa and my games/entertainment etc. A bedroom and a spare room for something else. Pimp it all up with uber technologies and gadgets and sweet.
  • UPDATE ON GAMING ROOM:

the room is now different from when i first posted.
    * the desk is now in the corner where my tv was (still warped, and unable to either close the door to the pc or close the drawer), with my pc happily resting in its place, and the 20 inch monitor barely fitting against the slanted ceiling of the attic i call my room.

    * the old emachine monitor is shoved in my closet. the thing would have been to deep to fit anyways.

    * my crappy twin bed is now replaced with a queen sized, and the giant speakers on the opposite side of it from where my desk is, lying on the floor, with the stereo on top along with my ipod stereo, making it my music area.

    * the tv is now resting on top of a dresser, facing my bed, with the 360 rigged up to it and the ps2 ready at a moments notice.

    * my gh2 guitar is standing in the space between my bed and dresser, along with my failed attempt at building my own pc, with all salvageable parts sitting on top of it

    * theres also an air conditioner in the window and a fan near the bed

thats all thats really important. as soon as i can get access to a good digital camera, i will post pictures
