    (XBLA/PSN)Skullgirls

    Developer:Reverge Labs
    Publisher: Autumn Games, Konami
    Platforms: XBLA and PSN
Release Date: 11th April for XBLA
    10th for PSN
    Genre: 2D Fighting
    Price:1200M$, $14.99

Skullgirls is a fighting game that can be played using different ratios of characters, with each player able to have up to three fighters on their team. These teams are balanced by their numbers, for example single player teams are stronger and possess more health whilst larger teams can perform character assists, with characters also able to recover health when tagged out. Players can customize their character assist attacks, as well as perform super moves by charging their special meter with offensive attacks. The game has various unique systems, such as infinite detection, which gives players the chance to break out of a loop combo, easier inputs for more complex actions and protection against high/low un-blockable attacks. [Wikipedia]

    Features
    >Skullgirls features the most frames of animation per character of any fighting game, hand-drawn at high resolution and enhanced by real-time lighting courtesy of a powerful 3D engine.

    >Classic six-button play gives characters a huge variety of attacks and special moves.

    >With the Variable Tag Battle system, players can pit mismatched teams of one, two or three characters against one another.

    >Custom Assists let you outfit your team with a huge variety of attacks for nearly endless strategic possibilities.

    >A robust anti-infinite combo system keeps competitive play free of abusive tactics.

    >Robust tutorials and an AI designed to teach eases new players into the traditionally intimidating fighting game genre and helps you improve from there.

    >Official GGPO netcode ensures lag-free fighting online.

    >A stunning soundtrack by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night composer Michiru Yamane draws you into the game’s unique “Dark Deco” world
    Characters
The game on release will have 8 playable characters. More characters will be part of DLC and will include Male characters as well.

You're probably already familiar with GGPO, as it was used for SF2:HD Remix and SF3:3S Online Edition previously. It's also popular amongst fighting game enthusiasts as it was built by a long-time member of the fighting game community.

Anyways, while I might not be getting Skullgirls right away, I am interested in it and I hope it does well. It's made by a passionate fighting game pro named Mike Z, and borrows features from Marvel Vs Capcom, Guilty Gear, and Capcom Vs SNK 2.

Haven't paid much attention to this, but $15? Sounds good! If it's €15 I'd probably get it.

Looking forward to this, heard it's really well balanced and the gameplay looks outstanding.

A team of two characters looks like the better choice so far so I think I'll focus on learning Cerebella and Ms. Fortune first. Been keeping my eye on those two, a very mobile grappler and one heck of a rush-down character of what it seems (those head combos looks like absurd fun). Of course, experimenting needs to be done with all of them. Double looks pretty freaky.

...... I don't know how I feel about this game. It looks like it could be fun, but I fear the skill level for combos will be pretty low and it'll be Mahvel all over again with insta-death combos. That and the character designs are fucking weird. At least it should be a game that's fun to watch.

Some reviews are up for the game at IGN and Game Informer, they gave it 85 and 80 respectively.
Also the date for the PSN release is now officially on the 10th.

I'm mildly excited for this game. Should be that little kick in the pants to get back into fighting games. I'll be buying it sometime this week and waiting for NooBTooBers to get some fights on! Gonna be playing lots of Nurse Valentine

What were you planning on getting this for? XBLA or PSN?
