    Skullgirls, Looks Promising

    Developer: Reverge Labs
    Publisher: Konami
    Release date: Early 2012(?)
    Platforms: XBLA and PSN

Skullgirls is an upcoming 2D fighting game for XBLA and PSN that uses an beautiful art style that mixes elements from anime with western cartoons. The gameplay looks like great fun and some of our own NTA members liked it when they played it at PAX. It appears to have a Tag system like in Tekken Tag Tournament . All the characters in the game are girls (giggity!) and each has an interesting ability/power/skill or just straight up deformity. The game WAS gonna come out late 2011 but got pushed back to Q1 2012. A smart move in my opinion.

    Check this out!

Giggity indeed. Just recently laid eyes on this one, I really like the artwork and the combat looks interesting enough. I wonder what the price will be.

I played this at PAX East earlier this year and from the 5 minutes I played it, I loved it! Really looking forward to this fighter. The cartoon art style is awesome and the gameplay was solid from what I played. That being said, there were only 2 characters playable at the demo. I'm still looking forward to it next year!

Not gonna lie, the title of this game gave me this...strangely dominatrix feel to it.

And after watching the videos, I think I was pretty close!

Ms. Fortune in action. Looks pretty cool.

EDIT: Just noticed the same video in the OP, my mistake :P

    Also, there's this:

Using the severed head to attack is very interesting (similar to BlazBlue I think).
I hope they make the backgrounds more "alive" in the final build. It just seem mmm too still.

@andrilza: No no it wasn't your mistake, I embedded the video after I saw your post so people won't have to check every post for videos.

This makes me really want a current gen system. This looks like a really fun game. And does Peacock remind anyone else of Game n Watch?

I'm certainly interested in this game. Though I have to really ask myself if I really want to buy another fighting game. Sure I'm really digging the animation and style, but fighting games are a bit more of an investment if you want to compete online. Just watching some of the walkthroughs, it seems like Skullgirls is no exception.

It's certainly turning out to have a pretty deep fighting system. I think I've heard in one interview that the developer said he thinks of it as a mix of MvC2 and Darkstalkers.

Omg she took her head off and played with it? Lol

I don't like fighting games, but the artwork is pretty interesting!
