INDIE GAMER ROULETTE

Top 10 Kids TV shows from the early Nineties part 1

Rate this Entry
It was a simpler time, In the Nineties all you needed for a good kids TV show was a slot on Saturday morning and a range of action figures. They where badly animated and had plot holes bigger than "back to the future" but I'll take them over a million digimon/pokemon/yu-gi-ho's any day of the week.

WARNING! This post is video intensive.

10.Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
The Cartoon didn't last long but basing it on a really cheap sequel to a really bad movie is too tenuous. The concept alone should be enough to sell you because the show itself is a bit meh.Played for laughs more than anything else, it had an aura of troma movies.

9. Street Sharks
Street Sharks, combing razor sharp teeth and macho steroid abuse and then selling it too kids. The story was complete gash but you didn't watch these things for the cerebral plot twists. This is what the evil marketing bad guys where so good at, the action figures where just bigger and chunkier than all the other ones, thus making them essential. This show IS Sunflower personified.

8.Mighty Max
The toys involved with Mighty Max were not your average run of the mill action figures, these things where dioramas. For anyone growing up in the early nineties the idea of a whole world in a plastic skull you could fit in your pocket was mind blowing. Mighty Max should also be noted for having one of the most metal sidekicks ever, Norman.Making ginger people look tough and carrying around a massive sword, he was truly barbaric.

7. Mask
Superheros with magic powers are all good and well but superpowers that are man made are much cooler. Taking the transforming vehicles from another famous cartoon and adding people in badass masks that shoot lazers and hypnotize people is a recipe for an awesome show.

6.Batman: The Animated Series
The dark knight, Rushing around the streets of gotham taking out foes with batarangs and using super-spy detective gadgets. In hindsight it was a dark and moody cartoon with mature themes and a muted pallet but as a kid it was just sometimes boring. As an adult this is my favorite but as a kid it was the thing on when spiderman had finished on the other channel.

5.SpiderMan
What else do I need to say, its fucking spiderman! Later series trailed off into obscure plots and 3 parters. As the old saying goes a hero is only as good as his villians. The rouges gallery is where spiderman reigns over other shows, from the derpy rhino to the cunning Kingpin to the psychotic Carnage (the dude was introduced as a suicide bomber!), spidey had his work cut out for him.

If you want to find out what made the top spot then you'll have to wait till the weekend, Peace.

Cool list so far, I remember watching these when I was little except for M.A.S.K.

Actually had some of the Mighty Max dioramas, they where awesome! A entire playset you could take in you're backpack, a godsend while travelling for three hours by ferry.

I'm looking forward to the top five and seeing if any of my old favourites made it onto you're list.

My entire childhood just flashed before my eyes, and it made me wish for times long gone. However If I don't see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Transformers in this list I will come up there and kick your butt Rich!

On a side note I had the Blue Street Shark Figurine and a ton of Mad Max diorama's.

TMNT and Transformers were 80s. He could add Beast Wars (best cartoon ever!) but that was late 90s.
