new Dr Who series: Aliens, picnic and some death

Rate this Entry
For all my overseas compatriates that like watching the good doctor you should know that the new series just started last night, second season with Matt Smith as the doctor. I'll try to keep all the spoilers under the tag. For those that havent seen Dr Who yet it is a modern science fiction show about time travelers, about an hour long each episode. its a PG, no swearing or nudity or over the top violence, so the kids can watch it as well. Apart from some 2 parters most episodes can be watched in any order, so don't be afraid of hopping into one or two random shows.

I think starting with the reboot would be good - the modern era began with Christopher Eccleston and I think a lot of that season was written with people who hadn't watched Dr Who before in mind.

I still haven't watched Saturday's episode so I steered well clear of that spoiler tab!

I gave it a shot when the new Doctor premiered in America last year but I just couldn't get into it. I've gotten into some good English stuff the past couple of years but this didn't take. I may give it another go but it will have to wait.

I only got into Dr Who a couple of seasons ago. Some of it can look cheap and tacky at points but I think the writing really shines through that. I also Heard that Neil Gaiman has written an episode this season so i'm looking forward to that. Christopher Eccleston is a brilliant actor the only reason I watched the G.I. Joe movie (which was pure popcorn rubbish).
